- Medication Preparation and Dispensing:
- Preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Compounding medications as needed, ensuring quality and safety.
- Maintaining accurate records of medication dispensing and inventory.
- Patient Care and Safety:
- Reviewing patient medication profiles to identify potential drug interactions or other safety concerns.
- Providing patients with information about their medications, including dosages, administration routes, and potential side effects.
- Monitoring patient responses to medications and collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participating in rounds, meetings, and other interdisciplinary activities to discuss patient care and medication-related issues.
- Providing drug information and expertise to healthcare staff.
- Pharmacy Operations:
- Managing pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining medications.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Participating in pharmacy quality improvement initiatives.
- Drug Formulary Management:
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of the hospital's drug formulary, which is a list of medications approved for use in the hospital.
- Evaluating new medications and recommending their inclusion or exclusion from the formulary.
