Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchasing
- Procure steel plates, sheets, pipes, structural steel, fasteners, welding consumables, paints, and other fabrication materials.
- Obtain quotations from approved vendors and perform comparative cost analysis.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts with suppliers.
- Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved requirements.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules.
Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers.
- Maintain supplier performance records and conduct periodic vendor evaluations.
- Build strong relationships with vendors to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Resolve supplier-related issues regarding quality, delivery, and pricing.
Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with stores and production departments to monitor stock levels.
- Ensure procurement planning to avoid stock shortages and excess inventory.
- Track material consumption and forecast future requirements.
Cost Control
- Analyze market trends and material price fluctuations.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company budgets and policies.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain procurement records, purchase orders, quotations, agreements, and invoices.
- Ensure all procurement transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with accounts for vendor payments and reconciliation.
Coordination
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Stores, and Finance departments.
- Follow up with suppliers for delivery commitments and material quality issues.
- Support project teams in sourcing special materials and services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or related field.
- Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
Experience
- 1-5 years of experience in Procurement/Purchase functions.
- Experience in Steel Fabrication, Manufacturing, Engineering, Heavy Fabrication, or Industrial Production sectors preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication materials and industrial consumables.
- Understanding of procurement procedures and inventory control.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and procurement software.
- Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
