Position: Primary Teacher (PRT) – English
Department: Primary Section (Classes I–V)
Job Summary
A PRT English teacher is responsible for teaching foundational English language skills to primary students in a simple, engaging, and activity-based manner. The role focuses on developing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, along with vocabulary building, grammar basics, and communication confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach English to Classes I–V:
- Phonics and alphabet sounds
- Vocabulary building and word recognition
- Basic grammar (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.)
- Sentence formation and writing skills
- Reading comprehension
- Rhymes, poems, and storytelling
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, and activity-based teaching materials.
- Conduct reading practice, dictation, spelling tests, and oral speaking activities.
- Improve students’ pronunciation, fluency, and handwriting.
- Use teaching aids such as flashcards, charts, stories, audio-visual tools, and games.
- Conduct regular assessments and maintain student progress records.
- Provide remedial teaching for slow learners.
- Encourage students to speak English confidently in class.
- Maintain a disciplined, safe, and child-friendly classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student performance.
- Participate in PTMs, school events, and training programs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation in any discipline.
- D.El.Ed / BTC / JBT / B.Ed. (mandatory in most schools).
- CTET (Paper I) preferred for CBSE schools.
- Strong command of English language (spoken and written).
Experience
- Fresher or 1–5 years of primary teaching experience preferred.
- Experience handling primary classes is an advantage.
