Azure Administrator L2 – Job Description
Role Overview
The Azure Administrator L2 is responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing Microsoft Azure cloud environments. This role requires hands-on experience with Azure services, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support escalations from L1 teams while ensuring high availability, security, and performance of cloud resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor Azure resources (VMs, storage accounts, networking, databases, etc.)
- Implement and maintain Azure Active Directory, RBAC, and identity management
- Configure and manage Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, VPN, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers)
- Perform patching, updates, and routine maintenance of Azure workloads
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues escalated from L1 support
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, CLI, or ARM templates
- Ensure compliance with security policies and governance standards
- Collaborate with developers, security teams, and other IT staff to support cloud solutions
- Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
Required Skills & Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in Azure administration or cloud infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Security, Monitoring)
- Hands-on experience with Azure AD, RBAC, MFA, Conditional Access
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Azure CLI
- Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights)
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions (Azure Backup, Site Recovery)
- Familiarity with governance tools (Azure Policy, Blueprints, Cost Management)
- Understanding of hybrid cloud setups (on-prem + Azure)
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and documentation abilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or equivalent certification
