Key Qualifications and Requirements:
- Academic Qualifications: MD in Biochemistry, DNB in Biochemistry, or M.Sc. (Medical Biochemistry) with a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry.
- Teaching Experience: A minimum of 5 years as an Assistant Professor in the department of Biochemistry in a recognized medical college/institution.
- Research Publications: At least four research publications, with at least two as an Associate Professor, in indexed journals (Medline, PubMed, Scopus, etc.).
- Training: Completion of the Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (BCMET).
- Non-Medical Faculty: Non-medical teachers (M.Sc./Ph.D.) can constitute up to 30% of the department, but Heads of Departments must have a medical degree. NMC +3
Alternative Experience Paths (NMC 2025):
- Non-teaching Specialists: A registered medical practitioner with 10 years of experience in a 220+ bedded government hospital can be eligible for the post of Associate Professor.
