Middle East Executive has been exclusively retained by a multinational chemical distribution company to identify and recruit a Global Chemical Procurement Manager for its Mumbai office.
To lead and drive the strategic sourcing and procurement function for bulk and specialty chemicals globally, with a strong focus on vendor development, cost efficiency, supply assurance, and global reach across key regions such as the Middle East, South- East Asia, and Europe. This role is critical in ensuring a robust supply chain and contributing directly to business. growth and profitability in the African and Indian markets.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Global Vendor Management
- Own the end-to-end sourcing process for key chemicals used in various segments like Personal Care (Glycerine, Petroleum Jelly) Home & Institutional Care (Caustic Soda), Mining & Water Treatment (Soda Ash), Solvents, Food, Paint, Ink & Coating and other bulk/specialty products.
- Develop, manage, and expand a strong network of cost-effective and quality vendors across Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, and other global markets.
- Continuously scan the market for new vendors and cost optimization opportunities.
2. Supplier Negotiation & Relationship Management
- Negotiate commercial terms, credit, and delivery schedules with global vendors.
- Ensure supplier performance in terms of pricing, quality, timely delivery, and responsiveness.
- Resolve quality complaints and issues in coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
3. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Liaise regularly with the sales teams across various locations to understand requirements, respond to inquiries, and provide competitive sourcing solutions.
- Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure smooth order execution and timely shipments.
- Coordinate with finance and legal teams for payment terms, contracts, and documentation.
4. SAP & Process Compliance
· Responsible for creation and maintenance of master data in SAP including materials, vendors and customers.
· Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance, and documentation norms related to international procurement.
5. Commercial:
· Jointly responsible for vertical’s profitability by ensuring net margins for various product segments on monthly basis.
· Ensuring adherence to forecasted TAT.
6. Market Intelligence & Innovation Enablement · Lead advanced market research to assess trends, risks, and opportunities in global chemical supply chains.
· Support new product development initiatives by aligning supplier capabilities with innovation pipelines and customer insights.
· Enable product lifecycle planning by contributing real-time insights into sourcing, performance, and regional demand dynamics.
7. Operational Excellence & Risk Management
· Champion continuous improvement across procurement processes, systems, and policies. · Drive cost optimization, demand consolidation, and sourcing automation while enhancing service levels.
· Proactively manage procurement-related risks, ensuring full compliance with global trade regulations and ethical sourcing standards.
8. Financial Accountability & Value Creation
· Contribute to annual procurement budgeting, with clear accountability for cost control, savings targets, and profitability metrics.
· Ensure strategic sourcing decisions align with organizational financial goals, delivering measurable P&L impact.
Knowledge and Experience:
· Education: Graduate in Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering (Mandatory);
Post Graduation in Chemistry (Preferred), PG in Supply Chain Management (Added advantage)
· Experience:
Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in global chemical procurement, preferably in segments like coatings, construction, personal care, home care, or food chemicals.
· Demonstrated experience in managing international supplier relationships and contracts.
· Proven ability to manage a procurement team and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Other Requirement:
· Strong understanding of international trade regulations, Inco Terms, import/export
documentation, currency exchange dynamics, and Letters of Credit (L/Cs).
· Willingness to travel internationally for supplier development and negotiations as needed
Pay: ₹3,500,000.00 - ₹4,000,000.00 per year
