Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
- Perform objective and subjective refraction.
- Prescribe spectacles and optical corrections.
- Assess visual acuity, binocular vision, and color vision.
- Perform slit lamp examinations and preliminary ocular evaluations.
- Identify and refer patients requiring ophthalmological intervention.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform ophthalmic investigations such as:
- Auto-refraction
- Keratometry
- A-scan and B-scan (where applicable)
- Non-contact tonometry
- Visual field testing
- OCT and fundus imaging (if trained)
- Biometry for cataract surgery patients
Surgical Support
- Assist ophthalmologists in pre-operative and post-operative patient assessment.
- Conduct pre-surgical investigations and counseling.
- Monitor and document post-operative visual outcomes.
- Educate patients regarding medication compliance and follow-up schedules.
Camp and Outreach Activities
- Participate in community eye screening camps and outreach programs.
- Conduct vision screening and preliminary eye examinations during camps.
- Identify patients requiring further treatment and facilitate referrals.
- Assist in awareness programs related to eye health and preventive care.
Patient Counseling
- Counsel patients regarding eye conditions, treatment options, and spectacle use.
- Educate patients on eye care, preventive measures, and follow-up requirements.
- Address patient concerns professionally and empathetically.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain clinical records and reporting formats.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment.
- Follow hospital protocols, quality standards, and infection control practices.
- Assist in inventory management of optical and diagnostic supplies.
Qualification
- Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Optometry may be considered based on experience and skills.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
