Job Summary
We are looking for a Solar Design Engineer with 2–3 years of hands-on experience in the Solar EPC industry. The candidate will be responsible for the design, engineering, drawings, layouts, documentation, and technical support for rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV projects.
The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of AutoCAD, Arka360 (Solar Labs), Google SketchUp, and MS Office, along with a good understanding of solar PV system design and EPC execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solar PV System Design
a. Design for grid-connected solar PV systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and ground-mounted projects.
* Prepare preliminary and detailed solar PV system designs based on site conditions and client requirements.
* Perform system sizing based on energy consumption, available area, load profile, and project requirements.
* Select suitable PV modules, inverters, mounting structures, DC/AC cables, protection equipment, and other system components.
* Prepare DC string configurations and inverter sizing.
* Carry out basic DC and AC voltage drop calculations.
* Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLD) for solar PV systems.
* Prepare equipment layouts and electrical layouts.
2. Rooftop Solar Design
* Analyze rooftop layouts and available installation areas.
* Prepare module layouts considering roof dimensions, obstructions, setbacks, walkways, and maintenance access.
* Prepare shadow analysis and optimize module placement.
* Design module mounting arrangements for different roof types.
* Coordinate with the site survey team for accurate measurements and site information.
* Prepare detailed rooftop installation drawings.
3. Ground-Mounted Solar Design
* Prepare module layout and array configuration for ground-mounted projects.
* Assist in determining suitable module pitch, row spacing, and orientation.
* Prepare layout drawings considering site boundaries, roads, drainage, inverter locations, transformer locations, and maintenance access.
* Assist in preparation of basic foundation and mounting structure layouts.
* Coordinate with civil, electrical, procurement, and project execution teams.
4. Software Responsibilities
AutoCAD - Mandate
* Prepare 2D solar layouts, electrical layouts, SLDs, mounting layouts, and construction drawings.
* Modify drawings based on site and project requirements.
* Maintain proper drawing standards, layers, dimensions, and revisions.
MS Office - Mandate
* Prepare design calculations and technical documentation using MS Excel and MS Word.
* Prepare project reports, BOQs, design sheets, and presentations using MS Office.
* Maintain project-wise design records and documentation.
Arka360 / Solar Labs - Preferred
* Create 3D solar PV designs.
* Perform rooftop modeling and module placement.
* Conduct shading analysis and energy yield simulations.
* Optimize system layouts and generate project reports.
* Prepare client presentation/design outputs.
Google SketchUp - Preferred
* Create 3D rooftop and solar installation models.
* Model roof structures, equipment, modules, mounting structures, and surrounding obstructions.
* Prepare 3D views for design validation and client discussions.
5. Engineering & Documentation
* Prepare BOM/BOQ based on approved designs.
* Prepare cable schedules and equipment schedules.
* Prepare technical datasheets and equipment specifications.
* Prepare design calculations and project documentation.
* Maintain drawing revisions and ensure the latest approved drawings are issued for execution.
* Review vendor drawings and technical documents.
* Assist in preparing as-built drawings after project completion.
6. Coordination & Project Support
* Coordinate with Sales, Project Execution, Procurement, SCM, Electrical, Civil, and O&M teams.
* Review site survey reports and identify design constraints.
* Provide technical clarification to installation and project teams.
* Attend site visits when required for design verification.
* Incorporate site changes into drawings and update designs accordingly.
* Support project teams during installation and commissioning.
Required Technical Skills
* 2–3 years of experience in Solar EPC / Solar PV Design.
* Good understanding of solar PV system components and electrical design.
* Hands-on experience in AutoCAD is mandatory.
* Working experience in Arka360 (Solar Labs) is preferred/required.
* Working knowledge of Google SketchUp.
* Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
* Knowledge of rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV design.
* Knowledge of SLD preparation and basic electrical calculations.
* Understanding of module, inverter, cable, earthing, lightning protection, and protection system selection.
* Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and electrical drawings.
* Good understanding of solar site survey data and its application in design.
Preferred Skills
* Knowledge of PVsyst is an added advantage.
* Knowledge of solar mounting structures.
* Knowledge of MNRE / CEA / DISCOM requirements and applicable electrical standards.
* Experience in designing C&I rooftop solar projects.
* Experience with net metering / net feed-in projects.
* Knowledge of basic solar energy yield calculations.
* Familiarity with preparation of technical BOQ/BOM.
Educational Qualification
*Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech* in:
* ECE / EEE with relevant Solar EPC design experience
Pay: ₹360,000.00 - ₹480,000.00 per year
