Housekeepers are responsible for the upkeep of a facility's appearance and hygiene. It is a physically demanding role that requires high attention to detail, time management, and a strong understanding of sanitation protocols.
Core Responsibilities
Most housekeeping roles include the following "daily essentials":
- Surface Sanitation: Dusting, polishing, and disinfecting furniture, fixtures, and electronics.
- Floor Care: Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Some roles include steam cleaning carpets or waxing hardwood.
- Waste Management: Emptying trash bins, replacing liners, and sorting recyclables.
- Restroom Upkeep: Deep-cleaning toilets, showers, and sinks; replenishing toiletries and towels.
- Laundry & Linens: Stripping and making beds, washing towels, and occasionally ironing clothing (common in private households).
- Inventory Tracking: Monitoring cleaning supplies (detergents, rags, paper goods) and requesting restock when low.
