A Lead 2D Animator
is responsible for overseeing the development, pre-production, and managerial aspects of the animation process. They lead teams of animators, ensuring that the work produced is consistent and coherent with the project's overall style and quality. Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications for a Lead 2D Animator: Responsibilities:
- Understand project goals to set the visual identity of the game or project.
- Create compelling 2D character animations with an emphasis on humor and storytelling.
- Work within performance constraints while maintaining high-quality work.
- Surface the need for tools to improve workflow to the Lead Animator and Technical Artist. Integrate assets into the game engine to evaluate visual quality and performance.
- Contribute to production milestones, schedule, and prioritize tasks with the Art Director.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of animations for characters, environments, and props.
- Collaborate with directors and other department leads to develop animation styles and techniques. Qualifications:
- A relevant degree, such as a Bachelor's in Game Production, Animation, Graphic Design, or Fine Arts.
- Strong understanding of 2D Animation & Production processes.
- Proficiency in software like Spine, Photoshop, After Effects, Blender, and DragonBones.
- Ability to adapt quickly and execute in different visual styles.
- Experience mentoring junior team members and creating technical documentation. Skills: Strong writing ability and understanding of project management methodologies.
- Experience with production tools like Hansoft, Jira, Perforce, or similar. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the final animated product aligns with the creative vision and technical specifications of the project.
