GENERAL TECHNICIAN — i'Deli Cafe
Keep Our Outlet Safe, Functional & Ready for Service
We are opening a new i'Deli Cafe outlet in Kakkanad, Kochi, and are looking for a skilled and reliable General Technician to handle day-to-day maintenance, repairs, equipment support, and technical requirements of the outlet.
General Maintenance
- Carry out routine maintenance and repair work across the outlet.
- Identify and resolve general technical and maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensure the restaurant, kitchen, storage, and staff areas remain safe and functional.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential maintenance problems.
- Maintain proper records of maintenance work and repairs.
Electrical Maintenance
- Handle basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Check lights, switches, sockets, wiring, and other electrical fixtures.
- Attend to electrical issues and coordinate with specialised electricians when required.
- Ensure electrical systems are used safely and report major faults immediately.
Plumbing & Water Systems
- Handle basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
- Attend to leaking taps, pipes, drains, sinks, and other plumbing issues.
- Monitor water supply and drainage systems.
- Report major plumbing problems and coordinate with external service providers when required.
Kitchen Equipment Support
- Assist with routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of kitchen equipment.
- Check equipment functionality and report technical problems.
- Coordinate with authorised service technicians for specialised repairs.
- Ensure equipment maintenance is carried out according to required schedules.
HVAC & Air Conditioning
- Conduct basic checks of air-conditioning and ventilation systems.
- Report cooling, ventilation, or equipment issues promptly.
- Coordinate with external HVAC technicians for servicing and major repairs.
- Ensure guest and working areas maintain suitable operating conditions.
Preventive Maintenance
- Follow a regular preventive maintenance schedule.
- Inspect equipment, fixtures, electrical points, plumbing, and other technical systems.
- Identify potential failures before they affect restaurant operations.
- Maintain maintenance checklists and service records.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all workplace safety procedures while carrying out maintenance work.
- Use tools and equipment safely and correctly.
- Ensure technical work does not create risks for guests or employees.
- Immediately report safety hazards, electrical faults, water leaks, or equipment failures to management.
New Outlet Setup
- Support the technical and maintenance setup of the new Kakkanad outlet before opening.
- Assist with installation and testing of basic fixtures and equipment.
- Coordinate with contractors and external technicians when required.
- Ensure electrical, plumbing, lighting, air-conditioning, and other technical requirements are operational before opening.
- Support the management team in ensuring the outlet is fully maintenance-ready from day one.
Vendor & Service Coordination
- Coordinate with external technicians and maintenance service providers when required.
- Assist in scheduling service and repair visits.
- Monitor completed maintenance work and report unresolved issues.
- Maintain records of service providers, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in general maintenance, facility maintenance, hospitality, commercial buildings, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with restaurants, cafés, hotels, retail outlets, or commercial facilities is an advantage.
- Experience in new outlet setup and maintenance will be an added advantage.
Education
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or a related technical field preferred.
- Relevant technical experience and practical skills will also be considered.
