Job Description
We are looking for a technically strong and hands-on MEP Engineer capable of independently handling execution, coordination, testing and commissioning of Electrical, Plumbing, Fire-Fighting, HVAC and other MEP services for building construction projects.
The candidate must be able to execute MEP works strictly as per approved drawings, BOQ, specifications and relevant standards, while coordinating effectively with Government Departments, Architects, Consultants, Civil Site Engineers and MEP subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and supervise complete MEP works at site as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Thoroughly study Electrical, Plumbing, Fire-Fighting, HVAC and other MEP drawings before execution.
- Check drawings for discrepancies, missing details and clashes between MEP, Architectural, Structural and Civil works.
- Coordinate with Architects, MEP Consultants, Government Department Engineers and Client representatives for technical clarifications, approvals and inspections.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Civil Engineers and Site Engineers to ensure proper sequencing of civil and MEP activities.
- Manage and supervise Electrical, Plumbing, Fire-Fighting, HVAC and other specialised subcontractors and site teams.
- Ensure correct positioning of sleeves, conduits, openings, shafts, embedded items, drainage lines, electrical boxes and other MEP provisions before RCC/masonry/finishing works.
- Prepare/check shop drawings, coordination drawings and As-Built Drawings.
- Ensure MEP execution does not conflict with structural, architectural or finishing works.
- Check subcontractor manpower, productivity, workmanship and progress against project targets.
- Prepare MEP material requirements and coordinate procurement to avoid work delays.
- Verify materials received at site against approved makes, technical specifications and BOQ requirements.
- Prepare and follow up material approvals and technical submittals with Consultant/Department.
- Check measurements and quantities of executed works and verify subcontractor bills.
- Assist Billing/QS teams with MEP quantities, deviations, extra items and RA Bill measurements.
- Attend site inspections and review meetings with Government Engineers, Architects and Consultants.
- Maintain records of inspections, approvals, testing and commissioning.
Electrical Works
Candidate should be capable of supervising:
- LT panels, DBs and electrical distribution
- Internal and external electrification
- Conduiting, wiring and cabling
- Cable trays and cable management
- Earthing and lightning protection
- Transformer/DG/UPS works wherever applicable
- Internal and external lighting
- Street/landscape lighting
- Fire alarm system
- CCTV, networking and other ELV systems
- Testing and commissioning
Plumbing / Fire-Fighting / HVAC
Candidate should have working knowledge of:
- Water supply systems
- Sanitary and drainage systems
- Pumps and water tanks
- STP/WTP systems wherever applicable
- Rainwater and external drainage
- Fire hydrant and sprinkler systems
- Fire pumps and associated systems
- HVAC/VRV/VRF/Split AC systems
- Ventilation systems
- Testing, balancing and commissioning
Project Completion & Handover
The MEP Engineer shall take active responsibility for successful MEP handover, including:
- Pre-commissioning checks
- Testing & commissioning
- Preparation and closure of snag lists
- Rectification of departmental/consultant observations
- Preparation of As-Built Drawings
- Test certificates and commissioning reports
- Equipment warranties and guarantees
- O&M manuals
- Coordination for statutory approvals/NOCs wherever applicable
- Final inspection with Government Department/Consultant
- MEP handover documentation
Candidate Requirements
- Strong practical experience in building MEP execution.
- Ability to independently read and interpret MEP, Architectural and Structural drawings.
- Experience coordinating with Government Departments, Architects and Consultants.
- Strong subcontractor and site manpower management skills.
- Good understanding of BOQ, specifications, measurements and billing.
- Ability to identify MEP clashes and resolve site coordination issues before execution.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office preferred.
- Willing to travel/work across multiple project sites.
- Experience in Government buildings, hospitals, medical colleges, educational/institutional buildings and EPC projects will be preferred.
We require a hands-on MEP Engineer, not only a supervisory/office-based candidate. The person should be capable of checking drawings personally, managing subcontractors, coordinating with Civil Engineers and Government/Consultant teams, resolving site issues and taking responsibility for MEP works from execution through final testing and handover.
