We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Civil Works & Maintenance Supervisor to manage the school’s civil works, building maintenance, and new construction/renovation projects. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating projects from the initial stage through execution and final completion, while also ensuring the regular maintenance and upkeep of the campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise new civil projects from scratch, including initial site assessment, planning, estimation, execution, monitoring, completion, and handover.
- Coordinate with management, architects, civil consultants, engineers, contractors, and vendors for project planning and execution.
- Assist in preparing scope of work, material requirements, estimates, work schedules, and project timelines.
- Obtain and review quotations and coordinate with approved contractors and service providers.
- Supervise civil construction, renovation, alteration, repair, and infrastructure improvement works.
- Monitor contractors and workers to ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections and report project progress to management.
- Coordinate with different agencies for approvals, inspections, drawings, measurements, and technical requirements as applicable.
- Ensure proper coordination between civil, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire-safety, and other related works during projects.
- Check quantities and measurements of completed works and assist in verification of contractor bills.
- Monitor project materials, usage, wastage, and site requirements in coordination with the Stores department.
- Identify delays, defects, quality issues, and site-related problems and coordinate corrective action.
- Ensure proper safety practices and safe working conditions at all project and maintenance sites.
- Coordinate project testing, rectification of defects, final inspection, snag clearance, and handover.
- Maintain project files, drawings, work orders, quotations, measurements, photographs, reports, and completion records.
- Conduct regular inspection of existing buildings and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Supervise routine repairs including masonry, plastering, painting, tiling, waterproofing, roofing, drainage, and other civil works.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requirements affecting school operations and safety.
- Ensure maintenance and project activities are planned to minimise disruption to students and staff.
- Provide regular updates to management on project status, expenditure, material requirements, risks, and completion schedules.
- Perform any other civil works, project coordination, and maintenance responsibilities assigned by the Management.
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction, or a related field preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in civil works, construction supervision, project coordination, or building maintenance.
- Proven experience in handling projects from planning/initiation to completion and handover.
- Experience coordinating contractors, engineers, consultants, vendors, and workmen.
- Good understanding of civil construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to understand drawings, measurements, estimates, and work specifications.
- Good knowledge of construction materials and site execution.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel, documentation, and project reporting.
- Strong coordination, supervision, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently monitor multiple works and ensure timely completion.
- Experience in an educational/institutional environment will be an advantage.
