About the company and the product
India Health Link is building a new multi-tenant Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) — one platform serving many hospitals — with Artificial Intelligence (AI) features delivered as optional plug-ins on top of a core that works fully without them. It is a greenfield build covering 42 modules across three phases, and the first pilot hospital goes live in month 6.
Why this role exists
Everything the engineers build is a guess until somebody who has run or deployed an HMIS in an Indian hospital tells them how the ward, the billing counter, the Third Party Administrator (TPA) desk and the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) audit actually work. That person is you.
What you will own
- Requirements and module specifications for all 42 modules, sequenced by phase.
- Master data workbooks — tariffs, test catalogues, drug formulary, department and bed structures — started with the pilot hospital in month 1, because late master data is the single most common cause of HMIS delays.
- User Acceptance Testing scripts, training material and the pilot implementation plan.
- Change control with the pilot hospital, using the phase-2 and phase-3 roadmap as the pressure valve when scope creeps.
- Domain quality assurance — you are the second pair of eyes on whether a workflow is right, not just whether it works.
Responsibilities
- Stay two sprints ahead of every pod, with specifications the engineers can build from: screens, fields, rules, edge cases, and what the hospital does today.
- Run the pilot hospital relationship day to day — workshops, sign-offs, escalations and the go-live plan.
- Define the reports and Management Information System pack hospitals actually need: census, revenue, collections, TPA ageing, stock consumption, NABH indicators.
- Work with the AI Engineer and the clinical advisors on where AI helps and where it must stay out.
- Own the content of data migration: what comes across from the old system, how it is cleaned, and how it is verified.
- Train the hospital's staff, and be present through go-live and hypercare.
Requirements
- Five or more years implementing HMIS or Hospital Information Systems in Indian hospitals, or running hospital operations or quality through an HMIS rollout.
- First-hand knowledge of at least four of the following: outpatient and inpatient workflows, ward and nursing operations, billing and cashier, the TPA / insurance / Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) desk, pharmacy and stores, laboratory and radiology operations, NABH documentation.
- Can write a clear specification and a clear User Acceptance Testing script.
- Comfortable in a room with a hospital's medical superintendent, and in a room with engineers, on the same day.
- Willing to travel to the pilot hospital regularly.
Good to have
- Has done a data migration from a legacy HMIS.
- Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Ayushman Bharat, or state health scheme experience.
- Basic SQL, or the willingness to learn it in month one.
- Experience of a go-live that went badly, and clear lessons from it.
Your first 90 days
- Month 1 — master data workbooks started with the pilot hospital; phase-1 module specifications underway.
- Month 2 — outpatient department workflows specified and validated with the hospital.
- Month 3 — the demo build validated against real workflows, and the change-control process agreed in writing with the hospital.
