Role Overview
The Head Designer – Rajputi Couture will serve as the architectural mind behind Dhiya’s design evolution.
This role requires deep understanding of Rajputi garments — their construction logic, cultural codes, drape proportions, embroidery placements, and symbolic detailing.
Working closely with the Co-Founder, the Head Designer will:
- Standardize and refine Rajputi silhouettes without distorting authenticity,
- Develop signature surface vocabularies rooted in tradition,
- Create structured systems for poshak development (not random designing),
- Build a design language that feels royal, disciplined, and unmistakably Rajputi.
This is not a trend-driven fashion role.
It is a heritage design leadership role.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Rajputi Silhouette Mastery
- Develop proportion standards for poshaks, kanchlis, and odhnis
- Perfect fall, flare volume, waist placement, sleeve structures
- Ensure cultural correctness in every construction
2. Surface & Embroidery Direction
- Define placement logic for gota, zardozi, danka, and heritage handwork
- Collaborate with karigars to elevate finishing quality
- Avoid over-embellishment; maintain royal restraint
3. Textile & Colour Governance
- Curate regionally accurate colour palettes
- Select fabrics aligned with Rajputi authenticity (bandhej, leheriya, tissue, silk blends)
- Maintain textile consistency across collections
4. System & Structure Building
- Create repeatable sampling frameworks
- Document design patterns for scale
- Reduce dependency on ad-hoc customisation
5. Team Leadership
- Mentor junior designers
- Build internal knowledge on Rajputi garment construction
- Establish quality benchmarks
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5+ years in traditional Indian couture, preferably with regional specialization
- Strong understanding of Rajasthan textile heritage
- Experience working with master karigars
- Structured, process-driven approach
- Respect for cultural codes — not experimental distortion
