1. Incoming Material Inspection

- Review Material Test Certificates (MTCs).
- Ensure material traceability using heat numbers or batch numbers.
2. In-Process Quality Control
- Inspect manufacturing processes such as:
- Forming and rolling
- Welding (ERW, SAW, or other processes)
- Heat treatment (if applicable)
- Sizing and straightening
- Monitor process parameters to ensure they remain within specified limits.
- Conduct stage-wise inspections according to the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
3. Dimensional Inspection
- Verify:
- Outside diameter (OD)
- Inside diameter (ID)
- Wall thickness
- Length
- Straightness
- Ovality
- Bevel angle
- Use calibrated measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, ultrasonic thickness gauges, and measuring tapes.
4. Welding Quality Inspection
- Inspect weld preparation and fit-up.
- Perform visual weld inspection.
- Review welding procedures (WPS), procedure qualifications (PQR), and welder qualifications.
- Coordinate or witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
5. Mechanical and Physical Testing
- Witness or review:
- Tensile tests
- Bend tests
- Flattening tests
- Impact tests
- Hardness tests
- Hydrostatic pressure tests
6. Surface Inspection
- Check for defects such as:
- Cracks
- Lamination
- Dents
- Scratches
- Corrosion
- Surface inclusions
7. Final Inspection
- Verify that finished pipes comply with customer specifications and applicable standards.
- Confirm marking, labeling, and traceability.
- Inspect coating or painting quality, if applicable.
- Ensure proper packing and dispatch requirements are met.
8. Documentation and Quality Records
- Prepare and maintain:
- Inspection reports
- Test reports
- Material traceability records
- Calibration records
- Quality dossiers
- Final inspection certificates
- Compile Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs) if required.
9. Non-Conformance Management
- Identify non-conforming products.
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Investigate root causes.
- Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
10. Customer and Third-Party Inspection
- Coordinate inspections with customers or third-party inspectors.
- Present quality documents during inspections.
- Address inspection comments and close observations.
11. Quality Management System
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and company quality procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
