An Operation Theater Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theater, assisting surgical teams, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment for surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Operative Duties:
- Prepare the operation theater before surgery.
- Ensure surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterilized and ready.
- Assist in patient positioning and draping.
- Check functionality of OT equipment like anesthesia machines, lights, and monitors.
- Intra-Operative Duties:
- Assist surgeons and anesthetists during procedures.
- Pass surgical instruments and materials as required.
- Maintain a sterile field and follow infection control protocols.
- Handle emergency situations effectively.
- Post-Operative Duties:
- Dispose of medical waste following safety protocols.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and OT equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation of used materials.
- General Responsibilities:
- Maintain stock of OT supplies and report shortages.
- Follow hospital policies and safety guidelines.
- Assist in the shifting of patients before and after surgery.
- Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthetists for smooth OT functioning.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma / Certification in OT Technology or relevant field.
- Experience: 1–2 years
