Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Production Planning & Control (PPC) Engineer for our Sheet Metal Manufacturing Unit. The candidate will be responsible for production planning, scheduling, material coordination, capacity planning, and ensuring on-time delivery of customer orders while optimizing machine utilization and production efficiency.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of sheet metal production processes, ERP/MRP systems, production scheduling, and shop floor coordination.
Key Responsibilities:Production Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders and forecasts.
- Develop Master Production Schedule (MPS) for sheet metal manufacturing operations.
- Plan and monitor production routing, sequencing, and machine loading.
- Ensure optimum utilization of Laser Cutting, Turret Punching, Bending, Welding, and Assembly resources.
- Monitor production progress and update schedules as per actual shop floor status.
Capacity & Resource Planning
- Perform Capacity Requirement Planning (CRP) to avoid bottlenecks.
- Balance workload across machines and shifts.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams for smooth operations.
- Analyze machine downtime and production constraints.
Material Planning & Coordination
- Analyze BOMs and engineering drawings for material requirements.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores teams for timely raw material availability.
- Raise Purchase Requisitions (PR) as per production demand.
- Monitor inventory levels, safety stock, and WIP inventory.
Shop Floor Coordination
- Conduct daily production review meetings.
- Track Plan vs Actual production and report variances.
- Ensure adherence to delivery timelines and customer commitments.
- Coordinate with Factory Head for issue resolution and priority management.
Dispatch & Delivery Coordination
- Track finished goods readiness and dispatch schedules.
- Coordinate with logistics teams for timely deliveries.
- Ensure OTIF (On-Time In-Full) delivery performance.
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare daily and monthly production MIS reports.
- Track key manufacturing KPIs such as:
- OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
- Plan Adherence
- Scrap / Yield %
- WIP Inventory
- OTIF Performance
- Analyze production data for continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Production Planning & Control in Sheet Metal Industry.
- Understanding of Laser Cutting, CNC Bending, Welding, and Fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Qualification:
- Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience:
- 3 to 8 years of experience in PPC within Sheet Metal / Fabrication Manufacturing Industry.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Understanding of Takt Time, Cycle Time, Line Balancing, and Capacity Planning.
- Advanced Excel and MIS reporting skills.
