Job Summary:
The Cost Control Assistant will monitor and analyze all store & HO costs to reduce wastage and improve margins. Key focus areas are purchase cost, store expenses, shrinkage, and asset utilization. Candidate with Asset Handling Knowledge will have added advantage for tracking fixed assets across stores.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Monitoring & Analysis
- Track daily/weekly store expenses: Electricity, Packing, Housekeeping, Security, Rent
- Analyze Purchase cost vs MRP vs Selling Price for margin leakage
- Monitor discount, damage, return, and shrinkage cost store-wise
- Prepare *Cost Variance Report* - Actual vs Budget and highlight gaps
Inventory & Shrinkage Control
- Support in physical stock verification and identify stock loss reasons
- Analyze dead stock, slow moving, and expiry cost impact
- Coordinate with Purchase team to control over-purchasing and markdown cost
- Track EOSS discount impact on margin and give recommendations
Asset Handling & Verification
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register for all stores: Furniture, AC, Racks, Computers, POS
- Conduct quarterly asset verification in stores and HO
- Track asset movement, transfer, damage, and disposal
- Coordinate with vendors for AMC, insurance, and maintenance cost
- Ensure proper tagging and barcode of all assets to prevent loss
Vendor & Expense Control
- Verify vendor bills, service bills before passing to Accounts
- Negotiate with vendors for better rates on packing, printing, maintenance
- Control petty cash and other store-level expenses
- Check for duplicate payments and unauthorized expenses
v MIS & Reporting
- Prepare monthly Cost Control MIS: Store P&L, Expense to Sales %, Cost per Sqft
- Generate reports on power consumption, manpower cost, and wastage
- Support during audit with cost-related data and documents
- Use Excel, ERP, and Power BI to create dashboards for management
Education / Qualification
Education: B.Com / BBA in Finance / Costing. MBA Finance preferred
Experience: 1-3 years in Cost Control / Audit / Accounts in Retail. Freshers with costing knowledge can apply
Technical Skills:
Must: Advanced Excel - VLOOKUP, Pivot, Cost sheets, Variance analysis
ERP,Tally, Marg, SAP, or any Retail ERP for expense and purchase data
Asset Management: Knowledge of asset tagging, verification, AMC tracking
Knowledge:
Understanding of Retail P&L, COGS, OPEX, Shrinkage
Basic knowledge of Store operations and billing
Other Skills: Analytical, detail oriented, able to question expenses, Store visit capability
Language: Tamil + English for coordinating with stores and vendors
