Senior Controls Project Engineer

Your Role:
As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will lead the design, development, testing, and commissioning of Low-Level Controls (LLC) software for medium to large-scale automation systems. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality control solutions using Siemens PLC technologies while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and project timelines.
Join our Controls Engineering team and contribute to the development of world-class automation solutions powering airports, warehouses, and parcel logistics systems across the globe.
Lead the design and development of LLC software using Siemens TIA Portal and Vanderlande's controls architecture.
Develop PLC applications from scratch using Statement List (STL) programming.
Design, configure, program, test, and document complex control applications and subsystems.
Develop reusable control modules and enhance standard PLC software libraries.
Create functional specifications and detailed technical documentation based on customer requirements.
Apply engineering standards, software development procedures, and quality guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead system integration, validation, and testing activities involving PLC, SCADA, Safety PLC, and Equipment Management systems.
Develop diagnostic, simulation, and emulation tools to improve testing and commissioning efficiency.
Independently manage commissioning activities in collaboration with site supervisors and project leaders.
Ensure complete and high-quality Service Take Over (STO) documentation.
Troubleshoot complex automation issues and implement robust control solutions.
Support risk mitigation and resolve multidisciplinary technical challenges.
Provide technical leadership to Controls Engineers within project teams.
Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and engineering audits.
Support project planning, effort estimation, budgeting, and timely project delivery.
Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, products, and control platforms.
Promote software development best practices, documentation standards, and knowledge sharing.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure seamless system integration.
What you bring:
10–12 years of experience in Industrial Automation and PLC Engineering.
Strong expertise in Siemens TIA Portal for PLC development, diagnostics, and commissioning.
Expert-level programming experience using Statement List (STL).
Strong experience with:
SCADA systems
Siemens HMI development and scripting
Siemens Safety PLC programming
Siemens Proneta for diagnostics and version management
Advanced knowledge of:
Experience in:
Exposure to Rockwell Studio 5000 is an added advantage.
Experience working on international automation projects is preferred.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness to travel 50–70% for project commissioning and customer support.
B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
Degree from a recognized university.
