About Aseema: Aseema is a Mumbai-based NGO that is committed to equipping children from marginalised communities with high quality, value-based education, enabling the development of their limitless potential. We run three municipal schools in Mumbai in partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), and one school for tribal children in Igatpuri. Aseema reaches out to 4,400 children living in vulnerable circumstances in urban slums and tribal communities.
Job Responsibilities:
- To take guidance from the Head Counselling on all matters related to the children.
- To identify children in need of counseling.
- To conduct individual and group counseling sessions for children as required.
- To maintain systematic records of all counseling sessions in the Monthly Tracker and Clinical file regularly.
- To provide monthly updates to the teachers on the progress of children in Counseling. Also, provide weekly updates to the Head Counsellor.
- To provide monthly updates to the teachers on the progress of children in Counseling.
- To conduct screening for external referrals and/or administer psychometric tests for children as required.
- To conduct developmental assessment with pre primary children.
- To report on the assessment findings.
- To use psychometric tools for the purpose of career guidance and to hold follow up meeting with children/parents/staff to discuss results.
- To ensure that teachers complete filling up of LD checklist for all children
- To organize screening for learning disabilities and shortlist children showing max. red flags
- To administer informal assessment on the shortlisted children and note down observations.
- To decide on the children who need a formal LD assessment
- To maintain a database of the process.
- To accompany children for testing wherever Psychiatric Evaluation is required.
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Masters/ Certification in Psychology (Counselling Psychology) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of School Counseling experience is required
- Good command over Marathi and English language.
