JOB TITLE: PCB Designer / Embedded Hardware Engineer (Internship / Part-time / Contract)
JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated PCB Designer / Embedded Hardware Engineer to join our team as an intern, part-time, or contract engineer. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Altium Designer, a strong understanding of electronics, an Electrical & Electronics Engineering (ECE) background, and the ability to develop embedded driver code in C/C++. You will be responsible for designing high-quality printed circuit boards and supporting hardware bring-up through embedded software development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design multi-layer PCB layouts using Altium Designer. Convert electronic schematics into manufacturable PCB layouts. Create and maintain PCB libraries, footprints, and component symbols. Develop and debug embedded driver code in C/C++ for microcontrollers and peripheral interfaces. Interface with common peripherals such as GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, ADC, PWM, and timers. Ensure PCB designs comply with signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and DFM/DFT best practices. Generate manufacturing outputs including Gerber files, BOMs, assembly drawings, and fabrication documentation. Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to integrate and validate system functionality. Support prototype bring-up, hardware debugging, and manufacturing issue resolution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (ECE) or a related field. Proven experience with Altium Designer for PCB design and layout. Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics. Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems. Experience developing low-level drivers for microcontrollers and embedded peripherals. Knowledge of PCB stack-ups, routing, grounding, power distribution, and PCB manufacturing processes. Ability to read electronic schematics and troubleshoot hardware. Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M, STM32, ESP32, NXP, TI, or similar microcontroller platforms. Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and spectrum analysers. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. Experience designing multi-layer, high-speed, or mixed-signal PCBs. Experience working with contract manufacturers and PCB fabrication vendors.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
- Part-Time or Contract Flexible working hours Remote arrangements considered based on project requirements.
