A hospital electrician works on a hospital’s electrical system, generators, and lighting. As a hospital electrician, you focus on preventative and maintenance measures to maintain equipment and wiring and diagnose problems when malfunctions happen. You repair equipment, check breakers and switches for issues, and ensure generators are operating properly, both for convenience and patient and worker safety. Because you work in a hospital, your responsibilities also include following protocol for ensuring patient health and safety while performing typical electrician duties, such as rewiring light fixtures and responding to power outages. You mostly work indoors but may need to work outside on occasion.
