Job Title: Senior Backend Developer (Python / FastAPI / PostgreSQL)
The Mission
At Arijentek, we operate as an all-in-one technology partner for small and medium businesses, providing comprehensive services that range from design and development to marketing, AI, and localized servers. We are looking for a problem solver, not just a maintenance engineer. You will architect for scale, handle massive data influxes, and ship updates rapidly, making critical infrastructure decisions to keep high-traffic applications stable, fast, and engaging for end-users.
Key Responsibilities
- API Engineering (Internal & External): Build and maintain robust internal APIs to serve stats, news feeds, and gamified features to the mobile app. Simultaneously, architect complex integrations with external third-party APIs for vital stat collection.
- Relational Database Scaling: Take full ownership of our PostgreSQL database. You will optimize complex queries, design schemas, and scale the relational database to seamlessly ingest and serve millions of granular data points (views, shares, comments, chart movements) daily.
- High-Throughput Data Pipelines: Build backend systems capable of processing real-time updates for streaming spikes, sudden chart movements, and artist mentions without degrading API response times.
- Rapid Iteration: Work closely with the frontend/mobile teams to push critical over-the-air updates and backend optimizations to address immediate feedback from our highly opinionated super-users.
Specific Technical Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of proven professional experience in backend development.
- Backend Mastery (Python/FastAPI): Expert-level proficiency in Python and TypeScript, with deep, proven experience utilizing the FastAPI framework to build high-performance microservices.
- Database Mastery (PostgreSQL): Advanced specialization in relational database scaling. You must know how to index effectively and optimize PostgreSQL to handle massive, continuously updating datasets.
- Complex API Challenge Handling: Demonstrated experience dealing with the strict constraints of major external APIs. You must have proven experience handling aggressive rate-limiting, complex pagination, and diverse authentication protocols.
- The "Hacker" Mindset: A natural curiosity to troubleshoot obscure errors and ship solutions rapidly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Operational Requirements & Expectations
- Timezone Alignment: Must be able to align with US Central Time, with daily meetings typically starting from 4:00 PM CT onwards.
- Workload Flexibility: Ability to commit to a 5-day work week, 8 hours daily, with the readiness to occasionally stretch into weekends during critical growth pushes or live-event traffic spikes.
- Domain Advantage: Prior experience building backend engines for fantasy sports, simulated stat platforms, or highly gamified systems is a massive plus.
- Rigorous Vetting: Candidates must be prepared to pass a stringent technical screening interview with the Head of Engineering, which will include successfully completing a timed, 2-to-3 day take-home architectural assessment.
