Role Summary
The Lead Fire Fighting / Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for leading fire risk analysis, fire protection system engineering, and compliance assurance for large, multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM projects. The role requires strong technical leadership, client interaction, design review capability, and mentoring of engineering teams, ensuring compliance with international fire and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA), and code compliance studies.
Develop and approve conceptual, FEED, and detailed fire protection designs in accordance with:
International Building & Fire Codes
NFPA Standards
FM Global guidelines
Perform and review fire protection system calculations, including:
Fire water hydraulic calculations
Sprinkler, deluge, spray, and foam systems
Prepare and review:
Fire protection layouts and P&IDs
Design philosophies and technical reports
Lead Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) studies, fire & gas detector layouts, and philosophies.
Oversee consequence modeling and gas dispersion studies.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
Vendor, Project & Client Interface
Prepare and approve Material Requisitions (MRs) for fire protection equipment:
Fire water pumps, foam systems, sprinklers, firefighting equipment, etc.
Review vendor technical bids, compliance statements, and technical deviations.
Interface with clients, licensors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Participate in HAZOP, operability, maintainability, and design review workshops.
Support site visits, construction, and commissioning activities, as required.

Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering is highly desirable.
Experience & Competencies
15+ years of experience in fire protection / fire safety engineering.
Proven experience in large EPC/EPCM or engineering consultancy environments.
Strong knowledge of international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Experience across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Power, Infrastructure, Mining, or Nuclear.
Strong leadership, decision‑making, and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong commitment to safety, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
