Role Overview
The Commis 2 is a junior-to-mid level kitchen position, supporting the Chef de Partie in daily pastry and bakery production. This role is ideal for someone with some hands-on baking experience who is looking to build technique, speed, and consistency while working toward a Commis 1 or Chef de Partie role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chef de Partie with preparation, baking, and finishing of pastries, breads, and desserts
- Follow recipes and instructions accurately to maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation
- Weigh, measure, and prep ingredients (mise en place) ahead of production
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment (mixers, ovens, proofers, sheeters) safely and correctly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your work station throughout the shift
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP compliance)
- Label, date, and rotate stock (FIFO) to minimize waste
- Support inventory checks and communicate low stock to the Chef de Partie
- Help pack, wrap, and prepare products for display or delivery
- Take direction well and communicate proactively about issues or delays
Requirements
- 3+ year of experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, or similar food production environment
- Basic understanding of baking techniques and kitchen equipment
- Willingness to learn and take feedback from senior chefs
- Ability to work efficiently and stay calm during busy periods
- Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (e.g., flour sacks, trays)
Nice to Have
- Culinary or baking certification/coursework
- Experience with [specific specialty, e.g., laminated dough, bread production, cake decorating]
Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹23,000.00 per month
