VOB Agent (Mental & Behavioral Health)Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Verification of Benefits (VOB) Agents with a background in Mental Health and Behavioral Health services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, benefits, authorization requirements, eligibility, and financial responsibility while ensuring accurate and timely communication with providers, patients, and insurance carriers.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and coverage with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans.
- Confirm Mental Health and Behavioral Health benefits, including therapy, psychiatry, counseling, IOP, PHP, and substance abuse treatment coverage.
- Determine deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, and authorization requirements.
- Verify in-network and out-of-network benefits.
- Document verification details accurately in EMR/EHR and practice management systems.
- Experienced with CollaborateMD, Kipu EHR is a plus.
- Obtain and document prior authorization requirements when applicable.
- Communicate benefit information to internal teams and scheduling departments.
- Follow payer-specific guidelines and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Escalate complex insurance issues and discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain productivity, quality, and turnaround time standards.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Verification of Benefits (VOB) processes.
- Experience with Mental Health and Behavioral Health insurance verification.
- Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans.
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and behavioral health billing guidelines.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and healthcare software.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in Insurance Verification, VOB, or Revenue Cycle Management.
- Prior experience supporting Mental Health or Behavioral Health providers is strongly preferred.
- Candidates from Kolkata location will be given first prefence.
- Experience with US Healthcare RCM processes.
- Medical Billing or Coding certification is a plus.
