Job Description:
MAIN DUTIES AND CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Admit patients into the operating department as required, confirming their identity and completing the necessary documentation.
2. Assist the patient prior to surgery, maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
3. Assist in the safe transferring and movement of patients throughout the unit.
4. Assist in the positioning of patients for surgical procedures.
5. Clean the theatre and other designated areas, in line with hospital policy.
6. Prepare, supply and maintain all necessary instrumentation and equipment for the specified operative procedure / theatre list. This may involve complex machinery including microscopes, lasers and endoscopes.
7. Position and connect equipment as required by the scrub team, disconnect and safely remove equipment as required.
8. Ensure proficiency with equipment before use in accordance with local policy and manufacturers instructions.
9. Prepare sterile trolleys and ensure all instrumentation is correct and accounted for, pre- intra- and post-operatively, as per policy.
10. Report appropriately any deficits, breakages, faulty equipment or sterility problems to the team leader or, practitioner in charge.
11. Undertake surgical scrubbing, gowning and gloving procedures aseptically in accordance with national guidance.
12. Participate as part of the Pre-operative team carrying out safety check of swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with a Registered Practitioner in accordance with national guidance / hospital policy.
13. Support and observe the patient.
14. Maintain a clean, safe environment, communicating and working effectively with the Pre-operative team.
15. Assisting in skin preparation and draping of the surgical field.
16. Supporting and observing the patient throughout the operation.
17. Assisting in the measurement and recording of fluid input / output.
18. Working along side of the surgeon, safely passing the correct surgical instruments and materials within the sterile field in order to ensure safe and efficient completion of surgical procedures.
19. Safely handling, recording and dispatching specimens and used instruments in line with hospital Policy.
20. Disposing of clinical waste safely and appropriately in line with hospital Policy.
21. Capturing and maintaining patient data / documentation and any information required for auditing / quality issues. Documentation will be countersigned by the Registered Practitioner.
22. Assisting the Registered Practitioner in the handover of the patient to the recovery staff, providing appropriate information and documentation.
23. Appropriately cleaning and clearing away all theatre furniture and equipment.
24. Checking, returning and preparing the theatre floor after cleaning.
25. Participate in regular meetings of the Operating Department Staff.
26. Participate in mandatory training programmes.
27. Participate in standards and quality improvement procedures.
28. Participate in clinical trials, audits and research under the supervision of the Registered Practitioner.
29. To comply with the h and departmental policies to provide a safe and effective environment for both patients and staff.
30. Contribute towards maintaining a cost-effective service.
31. Contribute to the implementation of change.
32. Establish and maintain effective communications within the department.
33. The post holder will conform to the Policies on Health and Safety and Fire Prevention and attend related training sessions.
· Qualifications:
Bachelor's in OT OR DIPLOMA IN OT
Experience - 1–05 years of experience in hospital or healthcare .or Fresher
Pay: ₹10,566.66 - ₹20,000.00 per month
