Position Title: Senior Horticulturist / Horticulture Lead
Department: Site Execution & Maintenance
Experience Required: 10+ Years (Seasoned professional)
Location: Nagpur, Maharashtra Employment Type: Full-time
About the Role:
We are looking for a highly seasoned, deeply passionate Senior Horticulturist who lives and breathes plant care. While the architect designs the vision, you will be the custodian of its life and longevity. With over a decade of hands-on experience, you understand the language of soil, trees, and ecosystems. You will take complete ownership of the health, execution, and long-term maintenance of all plantation drives across our major real estate developments, ensuring our greens stay vibrant all year round.
Key Responsibilities:
● On-Site Execution: Supervise the entire plantation process, ensuring the right sapling depths, correct spacing, and scientifically backed planting methodologies.
● Soil & Nutrition Management: Analyze on-site soil conditions (specifically tackling Nagpur's challenging black cotton and hard strata soils) and engineer custom soil-conditioning, organic composting, and fertilization regimes.
● Plant Health & Treatment: Diagnose plant diseases, pest issues, and nutritional deficiencies early; design eco-friendly, organic, or chemical treatment plans to revive and maintain plant health.
● Pruning & Growth Maintenance: Standardize and implement calendar-based pruning, thinning, and shaping schedules to maximize growth, safety, and visual aesthetics.
● Nursery & Vendor Management: Source top-quality, healthy native saplings from trusted nurseries. Manage internal holding nurseries on project sites if required.
● Water & Irrigation Oversight: Partner with engineering teams to optimize drip irrigation systems and water schedules aligned with seasonal evaporation rates in Nagpur.
Technical Qualifications & Skills:
● Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Horticulture, Agriculture, or Forestry.
● Domain Expertise: Extensive, practical knowledge of Central Indian tropical flora, native forest species, and lawn/turf management.
● SOP Development: Ability to create written guidelines and standard protocols for on-site gardening staff and contractors for daily maintenance.
Soft Skills & Behavioral Traits:
● Absolute love for plants and trees—someone who treats landscaping as a living ecosystem, not just a checklist item.
● Strong leadership qualities to manage on-site labor, malis (gardeners), and ground staff with authority and empathy.
● High ownership mindset, ready to solve real-time field challenges on large-scale open sites.
