Job Summary
MS-SQL Server Administration:
10+ Years of experience in database architecture design, Installation, administration, migration, Integration Design, managing MS-SQL Always-On.
Desired experience working in MS-SQL databases on AWS/Azure will be added advantage.
Should have Project Implementation, transition, transformation experience in MS-SQL Single instance, MS-SQL Cluster with Always-On configuration and DR setup.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize, multitask and work with onshore team’s skills desired.
Positive attitude, problem solving skills and self-initiative are must qualities.
Experience with VLDB (Very Large Database) environments.
Strong SQL skills including the ability to rewrite complex queries to improve performance.
Should have Shell scripting skills.
Extensive experience in Database Backup, restore and recovery. Check backup and restore capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Extensive experience in MS-SQL DR build, configuration, and administration. Establish and operate DR setup, participate in execution of DR plan.
Extensive experience in installation, configuration, and creating database, re-organizing database and configuring monitoring alerts baseline.
Extensive experience in analyzing and applying MS-SQL patches (Security and Minor improvements).
Extensive experience in database upgrade.
Database monitoring setup and integration of database alerts with ticketing tools.
Database security enhancement. User management like login and user creation, rename and disable SA account, remove built-in/administrator groups from SQL Server logins, use windows authentication mode, configure service account with required privileges.
Decommissioning of database installations.
Skill Requirements
Extensive experience in database security setup and management including database audit at instance level.
Extensive experience in participating test and validation activities after changes in other components like OS, storage, middleware and network.
Extensive experience in setting up High Availability like mirroring, Always-On, failover, cluster, replication and log shipping.
Extensive experience in ongoing database optimization including transaction log size, physical layout re-organization, re-indexing and other relevant configurations.
Extensive experience in batch job scheduling and management at DB, OS and other relevant tools.
Advise and sparing towards applications/developers/suppliers.
