Job Post: Quality Lab Technician (Metallurgical & Mechanical Testing)

Position Summary
We are looking for a detailed-oriented Quality Lab Technician to join our plant's testing laboratory. You will execute daily physical, mechanical, and chemical testing on stainless steel raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pipes to guarantee absolute compliance with client specifications.
· Location: Survey No. 265 Paiki, Village Nananpur, Taluka Prantij (Near Himatnagar), Gujarat
· Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Key Responsibilities
Material Testing & Analysis
· Perform destructive testing on stainless steel samples, including Tensile testing, Yield strength, Elongation, Hardness (Rockwell/Brinell), and Flaring/Flattening tests.
· Operate and maintain Spectrometer equipment for chemical composition analysis and Positive Material Identification (PMI).
· Conduct corrosion testing (IGC test) according to international guidelines.
Instrument Calibration & Maintenance
· Execute daily calibration verification steps for laboratory equipment like micrometres, vernier calipers, gauges, and laboratory testing machines.
· Document calibration logs and report equipment malfunctions or deviations to the Lab In-charge immediately.
Data Logging & Report Generation
· Record precise, unalterable raw testing metrics into laboratory logs.
· Prepare draft test sheets used by the Quality Manager to compile Mill Test Certificates (MTC).
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
· Diploma in Metallurgical / Mechanical Engineering OR B.Sc. in Chemistry..
· 2 to 5 years of practical experience in a metallurgical testing laboratory (experience in steel melting shops, pipe/tube plants, or rolling mills is preferred).
Technical Competencies
· Familiarity with metal sample preparation techniques (cutting, grinding, polishing).
· Understanding of basic testing parameters outlined by ASTM / ASME standards.
· Comfortable working with digital laboratory software and fundamental MS Excel for data entry.
