Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer – Process Simulation with a strong process engineering background and an R&D-oriented mindset to support the development of simplified process models for the Net Zero Emissions Plant (NZEP) program.
The primary responsibility of this role is to transform detailed process simulation models into simplified, computationally efficient models that can be integrated into digital engineering tools and applications.
This role sits at the intersection of Process Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Modeling, and Software Development and is considered a key position supporting one of the core technology pillars of the NZEP program.
Key Responsibilities
Develop simplified process models from detailed simulation models for integration into digital engineering platforms.- Forecast, optimize, and reduce the carbon footprint of day-to-day operations by analyzing equipment behavior across assets and identifying feasible improvement opportunities to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This includes monitoring energy consumption, evaluating operational efficiency, and implementing sustainable solutions to achieve decarbonization and net-zero emission goals.
- Evaluate and implement model reduction techniques, including:
o Mathematical models
- Identify the most suitable strategy for simplification while balancing accuracy, computational efficiency, and usability.
- Develop, validate, and maintain advanced process models for engineering applications.
- Apply thermodynamics, transport phenomena, reaction engineering, and mathematical principles to model development.
- Develop and implement numerical algorithms and engineering calculations.
- Code and integrate simplified models into engineering software tools using Python and other relevant programming languages.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams comprising process engineers, data scientists, software developers, and technology specialists.
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for Net Zero Emissions Plants and energy transition technologies.
- Prepare technical documentation, model validation reports, and performance assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong background in Process Engineering and Process Simulation.
- Experience in R&D, technology development, or advanced engineering studies.
- Experience developing, validating, and simplifying process simulation models.
