The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role focuses on risk management, regulatory compliance, and promoting ethical business practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Monitor regulatory updates and implement necessary changes within the organisation.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely filings and reporting.
2. Policy & Procedure Management
- Develop, implement, and update internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain compliance documentation and manuals.
3. Risk Management
- Identify compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments and compliance audits.
- Monitor business activities to detect non-compliance issues.
4. AML & KYC (if applicable)
- Implement Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.
- Conduct customer due diligence and monitor suspicious transactions.
- Ensure proper record-keeping as per regulatory requirements.
5. Training & Awareness
- Provide compliance training to employees.
- Promote a strong compliance culture within the organisation.
- Act as a point of contact for compliance-related queries.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain records of compliance activities, audits, and incidents.
- Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Support internal and external audits.
7. Investigation & Enforcement
- Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure timely resolution of compliance issues.
- Support disciplinary actions where necessary.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (LLB preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Indian regulatory environment.
- Good understanding of risk management and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail.
Experience Required
- 2–5+ years of experience in compliance, risk, legal, or audit roles.
- Experience in regulated industries (banking, fintech, insurance, corporate, etc.) is an advantage.
