Python Developer – Data Integration & ETL
Company and Position Description: AlphaCrest Technologies LLC was established in 2025 to commercialize a proprietary research, portfolio construction, execution, and risk management platform for systematic trading, developed and refined over the past decade. Headquartered in San Diego, the firm is led by former heads of proprietary trading desks, distinguished academics, and a highly skilled team of traders, computer scientists, and researchers.
We are seeking a motivated Python Developer with a focus on Data Integration and ETL to help scale our data universe. Your primary mission will be to expand our library of data assets by building robust pipelines that connect to various financial vendors, archive raw files, and load processed data into our analytics platform.
This is a fully remote position, ideal for a developer who enjoys the "plumbing" of data systems and takes pride in building reliable, automated workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Data Acquisition: Utilize our Python-based job schedulers and connectors to retrieve data from a wide variety of vendors (financial market data, fundamental data, news feeds, alternative data, etc.).
- Pipeline Development: Utilize and extend our existing internal data-loading framework to automate the extraction, archiving, and loading process.
- Archiving & Storage: Implement logic to ensure raw data is securely archived and organized for long-term storage and reproducibility.
- Integration: Map and load vendor data into our central analytics platform, ensuring it is ready for use by our quantitative research team.
- Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor automated data jobs to ensure high availability and data integrity; troubleshoot connection or format issues as they arise.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional Python development experience, with a strong emphasis on ETL processes and data handling.
- Strong API & Connectivity Skills: Proven experience working with REST APIs, FTP/SFTP, and web-scraping or socket connections to pull data.
- Data Libraries: Understanding of Pandas for data manipulation and NumPy for numerical processing.
- Linux Environment: Solid understanding of Linux-based systems and Linux shell scripting.
- Software Best Practices: Experience with Git for version control and a habit of writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with financial data formats (CSV, JSON, Parquet).
- Experience with cloud-based storage (S3).
- Previous experience working with financial data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv/LSEG, Polygon, ICE).
