Job Summary
The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. The role involves advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, enforcing preventative measures, and promoting a safe workplace culture to minimize accidents and occupational hazards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
Conduct safety inductions and ongoing training for employees and contractors.
Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation.
Coordinate emergency response drills (fire, evacuation, first aid, etc.).
Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
Promote a proactive safety culture across the organization.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in a safety-related role.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk management practices.
Ability to conduct audits and prepare technical, safety related reports.
