Job Summary
Responsible for implementation, and support of enterprise workload automation using Control‑M. This role ensures reliable batch processing, SLA adherence, platform stability, and automation enablement across distributed, mainframe, and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Workload Automation Design & Scheduling Design and implement end-to-end batch job workflows across Windows, Linux/Unix, and mainframe environments Utilize Control‑M Enterprise Manager to define job dependencies, calendars, cyclic jobs, conditions, resources, and scheduling logic Maintain naming standards, folder structures, and reusable templates for consistency and scalability Installation, Upgrade & Patching Install, configure, and upgrade Control‑M components (Server, Agents, Enterprise Manager) Manage and maintain application plugins (SAP, Informatica, Hadoop, File Transfer, AWS/Azure, etc.) Execute patching and hotfix rollouts with proper validation and rollback mechanisms Coordinate with infrastructure teams for seamless upgrade execution Agent & Plugin Administration Deploy and maintain Control‑M agents and agentless configurations Configure secure communication channels, host groups, and high-availability setups Manage plugin configurations, credentials, and version compatibility SLA & Batch Operations Management Configure and monitor SLA definitions, critical path jobs, and batch forecasts Proactively monitor batch performance and prevent SLA breaches using alerts and reporting Implement workload policies, throttling, and resource optimization strategies Incident, Problem & Troubleshooting Provide L1/L2/L3 support for job failures, system issues, and performance bottlenecks Analyze logs and perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues Create knowledge articles and implement permanent fixes to improve stability Security, Compliance & Audit Manage users, roles, and access controls in alignment with least-privilege principles Support LDAP/AD integration and SSO configurations Maintain audit logs, credential vaulting, and compliance documentation (SOX, ISO, etc.) Support audit and compliance reviews with required evidence Performance Tuning & Capacity Planning Optimize Control‑M databases, archiving, and housekeeping processes Monitor throughput, queue depth, and agent workload distribution Perform capacity planning to support business growth and seasonal spikes DevOps Enablement & Automation Implement Control‑M Automation API and workload-as-code practices (JSON/REST) Integrate Control‑M with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab Enable developer self-service models using templates and governance frameworks Manage deployment lifecycle across DEV, QA, and PROD environments File Transfer & Data Pipeline Orchestration Configure and support Control‑M Managed File Transfer (MFT/MFT Enterprise) Manage secure file transfers, endpoints, and routing Orchestrate ETL/ELT workloads across platforms such as Informatica, Databricks, Snowflake, etc. Implement event-driven and file-triggered workflows Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery Maintain backup and restore processes for Control‑M environments Manage export/import of job definitions and configurations Participate in disaster recovery (DR) testing and high-availability planning Ensure environment consistency through version control practices Workload Automation Design & Scheduling • Own end to end job flow design: build, schedule, and orchestrate complex batch workflows across platforms (Windows, Linux/Unix, Mainframe if applicable). • Use Control M GUI/Enterprise Manager to define job dependencies, calendars, cyclic jobs, conditions, resources, time windows, and rerun rules. • Enforce naming standards, folder structures, and reusable templates. 2) Installation, Upgrade & Patching • Install, configure, and upgrade Control M components: Control M/Server, Control M/Agents, Control M/EM, and relevant Application Integrator/Plugins (e.g., SAP, Informatica, Hadoop, File Transfer, AWS/Azure). • Perform patching and hotfix rollouts, coordinate with OS teams,
Skill Requirements
3+ years of experience in workload automation or batch scheduling Strong hands-on experience with Control‑M architecture and administration Experience supporting enterprise production environments with strict SLAs Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows environments Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
Other Requirements
Cloud & Containers: Control M integrations with AWS (Lambda, Batch, S3), Azure (Data Factory, Functions), GCP, and Kubernetes Jobs/CronJobs. • Observability: Dashboards and alerts via Control M, Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, etc. • Scripting & Automation: Strong in Shell/PowerShell/Python, REST APIs, JSON; build utilities for mass updates, reporting, and health checks. Stakeholder Management: Partner with app teams for onboarding, dependency mapping, and change management; communicate batch health to leadership
