Position: Site Project Manager
Reporting To Project Manager / Project Director
Location BARMER/Jaisemer
Job Purpose
To lead and manage the complete execution of 220 kV and above EHV AIS/GIS Substation projects at the site, ensuring completion within the approved schedule, budget, quality standards, and HSE requirements while maintaining effective coordination with clients, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution
-
Manage complete site execution of 220 kV, 400 kV, 765 kV AIS/GIS substation projects.

Ensure execution as per approved drawings, technical specifications, project schedule, and contract requirements.

Plan, monitor, and control daily construction activities.
-
Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning activities to achieve project milestones.

Monitor critical activities and take corrective actions to avoid delays.
Planning & Monitoring
-
Prepare and monitor detailed execution schedules.
-
Review weekly and monthly progress against planned targets.
-
Ensure availability of manpower, materials, machinery, and construction equipment.
-
Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely material delivery.

Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.
Site Coordination
-
Coordinate with clients, consultants, utility representatives, and statutory authorities.

Manage subcontractors and monitor their performance.
-
Resolve technical and execution issues at the site.
-
Conduct regular coordination meetings with all stakeholders.
Quality Management
-
Ensure compliance with approved Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures.

Verify construction activities as per approved Method Statements and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).

Ensure timely inspections and closure of quality observations.

Monitor punch point closure before commissioning.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
-
Ensure strict implementation of HSE policies and statutory regulations.

Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings.
-
Monitor work permits and high-risk activities.
-
Ensure zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) objectives.
Contract & Commercial Coordination
-
Support measurement and certification of executed work.

Verify subcontractor bills.
-
Monitor project quantities against BOQ.
-
Identify variation orders and additional scope.
-
Coordinate for client billing and documentation.
Resource Management
-
Lead site engineers, supervisors, QA/QC engineers, safety officers, store personnel, and subcontractors.

Allocate manpower efficiently.

Monitor productivity and optimize resource utilization.
Documentation & Reporting
-
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
-
Maintain site records, DPRs, hindrance registers, material reconciliation, and manpower reports.
-
Ensure proper documentation for inspections, testing, and commissioning.
Testing & Commissioning
-
Coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
-
Ensure readiness of systems before energization.
-
Coordinate with protection, SCADA, testing, and commissioning teams.
-
Support successful charging and project handover.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
-
PMP/PRINCE2 certification will be an added advantage.
Work Experience
Experience
-
10–15 years of experience in EHV Transmission projects.
-
Minimum 5 years of experience managing 220 kV and above AIS/GIS Substation projects.
-
Experience in EPC execution from foundation to commissioning.
-
Exposure to projects executed for utilities such as PGCIL, NTPC, State Transmission Utilities, or private developers is preferred.
Technical Skills
-
Execution of 220 kV, 400 kV, and 765 kV AIS/GIS substations.
-
Knowledge of transformers, GIS/AIS equipment, switchgear, control & relay panels, SCADA, protection systems, cable laying, grounding, and illumination systems.

Familiarity with IS, IEC, IEEE, and utility specifications.
-
Strong understanding of project scheduling using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
-
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
