Job Summary
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and safe operation of all electrical systems and equipment within the hospital premises. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply to critical patient care areas, operation theatres, ICUs, laboratories, imaging departments, and other healthcare facilities while maintaining compliance with hospital safety standards, statutory regulations, and infection control protocols.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance & Operations
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of hospital electrical systems and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain electrical panels, transformers, switchgears, circuit breakers, cables, and distribution boards.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical hospital infrastructure, including ICUs, OTs, emergency departments, laboratories, and diagnostic units.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify electrical faults and potential hazards.
- Repair and replace defective electrical components, wiring, switches, sockets, lighting fixtures, and control systems.
Power Backup Systems
- Monitor and maintain diesel generators (DG Sets), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), UPS systems, and battery banks.
- Ensure emergency power systems are fully operational during power failures.
- Participate in periodic testing of backup power systems and emergency lighting.
Equipment Support
- Coordinate with biomedical engineering teams for electrical support to medical equipment installations.
- Assist in providing electrical connections and maintenance support for diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
- Ensure safe electrical operation of hospital equipment and accessories.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to hospital electrical safety standards, statutory regulations, and fire safety requirements.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, energy management policies, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols while performing maintenance activities.
- Report electrical hazards, incidents, and near-miss events promptly.
Energy Management
- Monitor energy consumption and suggest measures for energy conservation and cost optimization.
- Assist in maintaining records of electricity usage and power quality parameters.
- Support implementation of energy-efficient lighting and electrical systems.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain maintenance logs, inspection reports, service records, and equipment history sheets.
- Record breakdown incidents and corrective actions taken.
- Update preventive maintenance schedules and submit reports to supervisors.
Coordination & Support
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and external service providers during maintenance projects.
- Provide technical assistance during renovation, expansion, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Attend emergency breakdown calls and perform duties during shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Qualifications
- ITI Electrician / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- Valid Electrical Wireman/Electrician License (as per local regulatory requirements).
- Additional certifications in electrical safety, DG operation, or industrial maintenance are preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 3–8 years of experience as an Electrician in a hospital, healthcare facility, or large institutional environment.
- Experience in maintaining hospital electrical infrastructure, generators, UPS systems, and critical care area power supply.
- Familiarity with healthcare facility maintenance standards and emergency response procedures.
Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
- Electrical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
- Knowledge of LT electrical systems, DG sets, UPS systems, and power distribution networks.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance techniques.
- Basic understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) and automation systems.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
