Are you a passionate Mechanical Engineer eager to work on next-generation indigenous defence technologies?
Astr Defence is looking for enthusiastic Junior Mechanical Engineers to join our New Product Development (NPD) team and contribute to the design, development, prototyping, precision manufacturing, testing, and validation of advanced defence systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in new product development, prototyping, engineering trials, and product validation.
- Create and modify 3D models using SolidWorks / Fusion 360.
- Support concept development, engineering drawings, and design documentation.
- Participate in product integration, assembly, testing, and design improvements.
- Understand and apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and assembly concepts.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to convert engineering designs into production-ready components.
- Gain hands-on exposure to VMC machining, CNC milling, turning, wire-cut EDM, press work, tooling, fixture development, surface finishing, coating, and precision assembly.
- Perform dimensional inspection using micrometers, bore gauges, borescopes, height gauges, surface roughness testers, and customized gauges.
- Assist in quality inspection using VMM, 2D/3D measurements, contour inspection, fixture setup, and part alignment.
- Understand machining parameters influencing dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Support quality assurance activities including inspection plans, check sheets, and process documentation.
Eligibility
- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 0–2 years of experience (Freshers with strong fundamentals are encouraged to apply.)
- Basic knowledge of SolidWorks or Fusion 360
- Strong interest in product development and precision manufacturing
- Eagerness to learn and work in a fast-paced R&D environment
