Job Description
The Area Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by one or more engineering squads by understanding business needs and translating them into well-defined product capabilities and functional solutions.
Working closely with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering teams, and Customer Success teams, the Area Product Owner is responsible for product discovery, functional solution design, backlog management, prioritization, and iterative delivery. This role requires strong collaboration, analytical thinking, user focus, and the ability to make informed decisions.
While experience in Banking, and Cash Management is preferred, we are looking for someone with strong Product Ownership skills who can quickly learn new business domains and effectively partner with subject matter experts.

Must Have

5–8 years of experience as a Product Owner.

Strong experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional engineering teams.

Demonstrated ability to translate business problems into well solutioned capabilities.

Experience managing and prioritizing product backlogs based on customer value, business priorities, and delivery objectives.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Design, and Customer Success teams

Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Customer-centric mindset with a passion for delivering valuable product outcomes.

Experience using Agile collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Good technical acumen, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and participate in architectural discussions.

Ability to understand and review API specifications (REST/JSON), system integrations, and data flows.

Basic understanding of databases and data models, including the ability to interpret simple SQL queries to validate business scenarios and support product decisions.

Ability to understand technical dependencies, constraints, and solution trade-offs while working closely with engineers and architects.
Preferred

Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Payments, or Cash Management domains.

Familiarity with Corporate Banking concepts such as Liquidity Management, Virtual Accounts, Cash Pooling, or Payments.

Exposure to product discovery practices such as Design Thinking and customer-centric product development.

Experience working with distributed teams in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities

Collaborate with Product Managers and business stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable product requirements.

Own and manage the squad backlog, ensuring work is prioritized to maximize customer and business value.

Break down features and epics into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria.

Collaborate closely with Engineering and Architecture teams to understand solution options, technical dependencies, and implementation approaches.

Participate in technical discussions by reviewing APIs, integrations, data flows, and functional solution designs to ensure they align with business requirements.

Work with engineering teams throughout development to clarify requirements, answer functional questions, and remove ambiguities.

Partner with QA to ensure acceptance criteria are testable and delivered functionality meets business expectations.

Validate completed features through sprint reviews and demonstrations, providing timely feedback and ensuring alignment with customer and business needs.

Contribute to product discovery by understanding customer problems, analysing business opportunities, and recommending improvements.

Collaborate with fellow Product Owners to maximise product value and support roadmap execution.
