Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Engineer
Job Summary
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all fabricated components, assemblies, and finished water treatment machinery meet company quality standards, customer specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards. The role involves inspection of raw materials, in-process fabrication, welding, assembly, testing, and final inspection before dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
Incoming Quality Inspection
- Inspect incoming raw materials such as MS, SS plates, pipes, structural steel, fittings, and purchased components.
- Verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and supplier documentation.
- Ensure compliance with approved specifications and purchase orders.
In-Process Quality Control
- Monitor fabrication activities including cutting, bending, machining, fit-up, welding, and assembly.
- Verify dimensions using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and measuring tapes.
- Inspect weld joints visually and coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) where required.
- Ensure fabrication drawings and approved procedures are followed.
Final Inspection
- Conduct final inspection of fabricated equipment before painting and dispatch.
- Verify dimensional accuracy, workmanship, alignment, surface finish, and functionality.
- Ensure all quality checklists are completed and approved.
Documentation
- Prepare inspection reports and quality records.
- Maintain quality documentation including:
Ø Inspection Check Reports
Ø Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
Ø Material Traceability Records
Ø Calibration Records
Ø Final Quality Clearance Reports
- Support preparation of Manufacturing Record Books (MRB) whenever applicable.
Customer & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with customers during stage inspections and final inspections.
- Attend third-party inspections when required.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding quality issues and corrective actions.
Quality Improvement
- Identify quality issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Analyze rejection trends and implement improvement measures.
- Participate in root cause analysis for quality failures.
