Role Summary
As a Trainee Database Engineer, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of SQL-based data solutions and reporting capabilities across core platforms. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop scalable data processes, support integration efforts, and contribute to application delivery projects across global teams in the US, UK, and India.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and maintain basic SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts
- Support data transformations and data transfers between systems
- Assist in building and maintaining Power BI/SSRS reports and dashboards
- Work with senior team members to understand business and technical requirements
- Participate in testing and deployment activities for database solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot database issues with guidance
- Support performance tuning and optimization efforts
- Follow established development standards and documentation practices
- Collaborate with global teams on data and application delivery projects

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviors:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Foundational knowledge of SQL Server (2016+) and relational databases
- Basic understanding of data structures, database design, and normalization
- Exposure to reporting tools such as Power BI or SSRS (academic or practical)
- Familiarity with development tools (e.g., Visual Studio, Git/TFS)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Exposure to ETL processes or data integration concepts
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing practices
- Basic knowledge of performance tuning and query optimization
