Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented *Purchaser – Construction* to manage the procurement of construction materials, MEP materials, equipment and site-related requirements across multiple project locations. The incumbent will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager to understand project requirements, plan procurement activities, source materials, negotiate with vendors, and ensure timely availability of materials at project sites.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate with Senior Operations Manager and site teams to understand project schedules and material requirements
- Prepare procurement plans based on project timelines, BOQs and site execution plans
- Forecast material requirements for ongoing and upcoming projects
2. Material Requirement Analysis
- Review site material requisitions and verify quantities
- Analyze material specifications, technical requirements and delivery schedules before procurement
- Ensure materials procured are in accordance with approved specifications
3. Vendor Sourcing & Rate Analysis
- Identify, evaluate and develop a reliable network of vendors and suppliers
- Obtain quotations and conduct comparative rate analysis - CS
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, payment conditions and delivery schedules
- Monitor market trends, price fluctuations and alternate sourcing opportunities
4. Purchase Order & Procurement Execution
- Raise purchase requisitions and prepare purchase orders after approvals
- Coordinate with vendors for timely procurement and dispatch of materials
- Ensure procurement activities are completed within approved budgets and timelines
- Follow up for on-time deliveries and resolve supply issues
5. Material Delivery & Site Coordination
- Coordinate with site teams for timely receipt and availability of materials
- Monitor delivery schedules and resolve delays, shortages or damages
- Coordinate logistics and transportation arrangements
6. Inventory & Documentation Management
- Maintain procurement records, vendor database, quotations, POs and delivery documentation
- Track material movement, pending orders and procurement status
- Ensure proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes
7. Vendor Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with vendors
- Conduct periodic vendor performance evaluations
- Develop alternative sourcing strategies to optimize costs
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement/purchasing within the construction industry
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Civil Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related discipline. Diploma in Procurement will be an added advantage
- Technical Skills: MS Excel Advanced, MS Office, ERP/Procurement Management Software, Vendor Management System, Basic understanding of Construction Drawings and BOQs
- Core Competencies: Construction Procurement, Vendor Management, Rate Analysis, Cost Comparison, Negotiation, MRP, Inventory & Supply Chain, Budget & Cost Control
- Other: Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple requirements, strong commercial acumen. Occasional travel to project sites and vendor locations required
What We Offer:
- Salary: ₹40,000 to ₹60,000 per month
