Key Responsibilities:Patient Care:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing general, orthopedic, urological, gastrointestinal, or other surgeries.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, pain levels, wound sites, and overall post-operative recovery.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood transfusions, and manage drains, catheters, and other post-surgical devices.
- Perform dressing changes, wound care, and prevent or manage surgical site infections.
Patient Assessment & Documentation:
- Conduct detailed pre-op and post-op assessments.
- Monitor for signs of complications such as bleeding, infection, or thromboembolism.
- Document care provided, assessments, medications, and any incidents in line with hospital policies and legal requirements.
Communication & Coordination:
- Liaise with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other specialists to coordinate patient care.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, pain management, and discharge plans.
Safety & Infection Control:
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection prevention protocols.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions or deterioration and escalate appropriately.
- Participate in safety audits and incident reporting.
Teamwork & Supervision:
- Collaborate effectively with nursing colleagues and multidisciplinary staff.
- Support junior nurses, student nurses, and healthcare assistants.
- Attend handovers, contribute to ward rounds, and support efficient shift transitions.
