Job Summary:
The Fettling Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all fettling operations in the foundry or manufacturing unit. This includes supervising fettlers, ensuring safety compliance, meeting production targets, maintaining quality standards, and improving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in fettling processes and team leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily fettling activities including grinding, sanding, cutting, and finishing of castings or fabricated parts.
- Allocate work to fettling staff based on production schedules and priorities.
- Ensure all fettled products meet specified quality and dimensional standards.
- Train and mentor fettling workers on proper techniques, tool usage, and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections of tools and machinery to ensure optimal working condition.
- Enforce health and safety regulations within the fettling area.
- Maintain records of production output, downtime, and manpower utilization.
- Coordinate with the quality assurance team for non-conformances and rework.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce defects.
- Report performance metrics and issues to higher management regularly.
