The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising housekeeping staff and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, infection control, and hygiene throughout the hospital. The role ensures that patient care areas, operation theatres, ICUs, wards, OPDs, offices, and public areas are maintained according to hospital policies, quality standards, and infection prevention protocols.
- Supervise daily housekeeping operations across all hospital departments.
- Allocate work schedules and duty rosters for housekeeping staff.
- Monitor cleanliness of patient rooms, ICUs, OTs, OPDs, laboratories, waiting areas, corridors, washrooms, and administrative offices.
- Ensure adherence to hospital infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines.
- Conduct routine inspections and quality audits of housekeeping services.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sanitization using approved chemicals and SOPs.
- Monitor biomedical waste segregation and ensure compliance with waste management protocols.
- Coordinate terminal cleaning after patient discharge, isolation cases, and infectious disease cases.
- Ensure availability of cleaning equipment, chemicals, PPE, consumables, and linen-related supplies.
- Train housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, safety practices, infection control, and use of equipment.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, grooming, and performance of housekeeping employees.
- Ensure timely reporting of maintenance issues to the engineering department.
- Coordinate with Nursing, Infection Control, Administration, and Maintenance departments for effective housekeeping services.
- Maintain housekeeping records, inspection reports, checklists, inventory, and attendance registers.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards such as NABH, JCI (if applicable), and hospital policies.
- Investigate housekeeping complaints and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Monitor pest control activities in coordination with vendors.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines.
