Role Summary
We are seeking a highly capable Supply Chain Manager to lead and optimize vendor-driven supply chain functions for our pharmacy business. This role owns vendor onboarding, supplier relationship management, procurement planning, and resolution of vendor-related challenges across locations. The ideal candidate is comfortable with frequent domestic travel and skilled at driving efficiency, scalability, and cost optimization across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Onboarding & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors/suppliers for pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical products
- Ensure vendors meet compliance standards (licenses, certifications, regulatory requirements)
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with distributors, stockists, and manufacturers
- Negotiate pricing, credit terms, and supply agreements
- Monitor vendor performance and drive continuous improvement
Procurement Planning & Vendor Coordination
- Lead procurement planning aligned with demand inputs and business requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams for order finalization and timely vendor fulfilment
- Manage rack rent-out opportunities and drive additional vendor partnerships
- Oversee inventory merchandising readiness and inward coordination to ensure product availability
- Work closely with the inventory team to align supply with store-level requirements
Vendor Issue Resolution
- Act as primary point of contact for vendor-related escalations
- Travel to vendor locations as needed to resolve supply disruptions, quality issues, or operational challenges
- Ensure quick resolution of delivery delays, shortages, or discrepancies
- Maintain strong communication between vendors and internal teams
Supply Alignment & Demand Support
- Collaborate with internal teams to align procurement with demand forecasts
- Support inventory teams in maintaining optimal stock levels across locations
- Provide inputs to reduce expiries, wastage, and supply gaps
- Drive demand-based supply planning improvements
Cross-functional Coordination
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and store teams for smooth execution
- Align procurement and vendor planning with business growth and expansion plans
- Support new store launches with vendor readiness and supply alignment
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Track key metrics: vendor performance, fill rate, lead time, inventory turnover
- Prepare MIS reports with actionable insights for management
- Identify process gaps and implement scalable SOPs and improvements
Team Leadership & Strategic Contribution
- Lead and guide supply chain/procurement team members
- Drive process standardization and system adoption (ERP/inventory tools)
- Contribute to supply chain strategy, vendor network expansion, and cost optimization initiatives
Key Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in Supply Chain / Procurement / Vendor Management
- Prior experience in pharmacy retail, healthcare, or FMCG distribution preferred
- Strong expertise in vendor onboarding and relationship management
- Willingness to travel frequently across India
- Good understanding of inventory management and demand planning
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Candidate should be based in Coimbatore or willing to relocate
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
- Experience handling multi-location supply chain operations
- Knowledge of pharma regulations and compliance
