Job Summary
The Patient Counselor will be responsible for counseling patients and their attendants regarding eye care services, treatment plans, and surgical procedures, particularly cataract surgeries. The role involves coordinating with patients, doctors, outreach teams, and hospital departments to ensure smooth patient management, follow-up, and conversion of surgical recommendations into successful treatment outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Counseling
- Counsel patients and their family members regarding cataract surgery, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
- Explain surgical procedures, benefits, risks, costs, and post-operative care requirements.
- Address patient concerns and provide emotional support throughout the treatment journey.
- Educate patients about the importance of timely intervention and follow-up care.
Patient Coordination
- Coordinate appointments, investigations, admissions, and surgery scheduling.
- Maintain regular communication with patients to ensure adherence to treatment plans.
- Assist patients in completing documentation and hospital processes.
- Coordinate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and nursing staff for seamless patient care.
Follow-up Management
- Conduct pre-operative and post-operative follow-up calls.
- Track patient appointments, surgery schedules, and recovery status.
- Ensure timely follow-up of referred and outreach patients.
- Maintain records of patient interactions, counseling sessions, and outcomes.
Community & Outreach Activities
- Support community outreach programs, eye screening camps, and awareness initiatives.
- Coordinate with outreach teams to facilitate patient referrals and hospital visits.
- Assist in mobilizing patients for cataract surgeries and other ophthalmic treatments.
- Participate in eye health awareness campaigns and community engagement activities.
Documentation & Quality
- Maintain accurate patient counseling records and reports.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient confidentiality standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Prepare reports related to counseling activities, patient conversions, and follow-up status.
Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline.
- Candidates with a background in Healthcare, Social Work, Hospital Administration, or Public Health will be preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in patient counseling within an eye hospital or ophthalmology setup.
- Experience in cataract counseling and patient coordination is preferred.
Pay: Up to ₹20,000.00 per month
