About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Merchandiser with 10–15 years of experience in garment manufacturing, preferably with strong expertise in Coveralls, Industrial Workwear, Uniforms and Protective Workwear.
The ideal candidate should have strong end-to-end merchandising knowledge, excellent buyer-handling skills and practical experience in managing coverall orders from development and costing through production, quality inspection and final shipment.
The candidate must be capable of independently handling buyer requirements, technical specifications, costing, sampling, production coordination and delivery schedules while ensuring quality and profitability.
Key Responsibilities1. Buyer & Order Management
- Handle day-to-day communication and coordination with domestic and international buyers.
- Understand buyer requirements, technical specifications, measurements and product standards.
- Manage orders from initial inquiry/development to final shipment.
- Follow up with buyers for approvals, comments, specifications and order confirmations.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with buyers and ensure high customer satisfaction.
2. Coverall & Workwear Expertise
- Possess strong technical and commercial knowledge of Coveralls and Industrial Workwear.
- Understand different types of coveralls, including:
- Industrial Coveralls
- Boiler Suits
- Mechanic Coveralls
- FR/Flame-Resistant Coveralls
- Hi-Visibility Workwear
- Chemical/Industrial Protective Workwear
- Safety & Utility Uniforms
- Understand garment construction, stitching, pockets, zippers, closures, reflective tapes, labels, trims and other accessories used in coverall manufacturing.
- Review and interpret tech packs, measurement charts, specifications and construction details.
3. Product Development & Sampling
- Coordinate development of new styles and buyer samples.
- Prepare and review specifications, BOM and measurement requirements.
- Coordinate with pattern, sampling, sourcing and production teams.
- Follow up on sample development, fit samples, size sets and pre-production samples.
- Ensure buyer comments are properly incorporated into subsequent samples.
4. Costing & Commercial Activities
- Prepare accurate garment costing based on:
- Fabric consumption
- Trims & accessories
- Labour
- Washing/finishing
- Embroidery/printing
- Packaging
- Other production costs
- Work closely with sourcing and production teams to achieve competitive costing.
- Analyze consumption and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Negotiate with suppliers and coordinate material procurement where required.
5. Production Follow-Up
- Coordinate closely with Production, PPC, Quality, Purchase, Stores and Sampling teams.
- Prepare and monitor the Time & Action (T&A) calendar.
- Track fabric, trims and accessories availability.
- Monitor production progress against committed delivery dates.
- Identify delays and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure orders are completed within the required timeline.
6. Quality Coordination
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to ensure products meet buyer specifications.
- Follow up on inline, midline and final inspections.
- Ensure measurements, workmanship, fabric quality, trims and construction meet approved standards.
- Resolve quality issues in coordination with production and QC teams.
7. Shipment & Documentation
- Coordinate with the logistics/export team for timely shipment.
- Ensure shipment schedules are monitored and maintained.
- Follow up on packing, carton details and shipment requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure all buyer requirements are completed before shipment.
Required Skills & Competencies
- 10–15 years of relevant experience in garment merchandising.
- Strong specialization in Coveralls / Industrial Workwear / Uniforms is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent understanding of fabric, trims, accessories and garment specifications.
- Strong knowledge of costing, consumption, T&A and production planning.
- Excellent buyer communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to independently manage multiple orders simultaneously.
- Strong coordination skills across production, sourcing, QC and logistics.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and merchandising-related software/ERP systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Apparel, Fashion Technology, Textile, Garment Manufacturing, Merchandising or a related field.
- Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be someone who:
- Has 10–15 years of hands-on merchandising experience.
- Has extensive experience specifically in Coverall and Industrial Workwear manufacturing.
- Has independently handled large-volume workwear/coverall orders.
- Has experience dealing with export buyers or international workwear brands.
- Can understand technical garment requirements and convert buyer specifications into production-ready instructions.
- Can effectively coordinate between buyers, suppliers, production and QC teams.
- Is capable of working under strict delivery schedules and handling multiple urgent requirements.
