At Checkered Spaces, we are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in the process of design, not just someone who knows software.
We’re seeking a candidate who is curious, detail-oriented, and excited about seeing ideas translate into real spaces on site. This role offers hands-on involvement across residential, retail, and commercial interior projects, with exposure to concept development, space planning, working drawings, materials, detailing, and site coordination.
You will work closely with the studio team and be involved in both design thinking and execution.
Responsibilities
- Assist in design development and space planning
- Prepare drawings, detailing, and presentation material
- Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and site teams
- Support material selection and documentation
- Participate in site visits and execution follow-ups
Preferred Skills
- Good understanding of drawings and detailing
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and presentation tools
- Interest in materials, finishes, and construction processes
- Ability to work collaboratively and take feedback positively
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
